INEC Declares Soludo Winner of Anambra Governorship Election

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.

The Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, announced the results on Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Awka.

According to the official results, Governor Soludo secured 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.

Other candidates trailed behind, with the Labour Party’s George Moghalu garnering 10,576 votes, while John Nwosu of the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC) received 8,208 votes.

With this victory, Soludo has been re-elected for a second term as governor of Anambra State.
