One Dead, Seven Injured in Jigawa Building Collapse After Heavy Rainfall
The council’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
According to him, the collapse occurred around midnight on Friday, September 5, in Kabak village after torrential rains weakened structures in the area.
“I gathered that seven persons sustained serious injuries while one person died in the incident. Five of the victims were hospitalised while the remaining two were treated and discharged,” Muhammad stated.
In response, the Chairman of Kirikasamma Local Government Council, Muhammad Maji, visited the scene to sympathise with the victims and their families. The council provided ₦500,000 to cover medical expenses for those injured and ₦100,000 in emergency relief to the bereaved family.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during the rainy season, especially in communities prone to flooding and structural damage.
