Bandits Kill 15 in Zamfara Ambush on Soldiers and Traders
The attack occurred Monday as troops escorted traders from Lilo village in Mada District. Eyewitnesses said the bandits, who had laid an ambush, opened fire, sparking a fierce gun battle. Survivors reported that the attackers eventually retreated after suffering heavy casualties.
Community spokesperson Mohammed Mohammed confirmed the deaths, describing the incident as a devastating blow. He blamed poor infrastructure and weak security presence for the area’s vulnerability, urging urgent government intervention.
While the Army has yet to officially confirm the incident, residents hailed the fallen soldiers as gallant heroes who died protecting civilians.
