NAFDAC Seizes ₦1.2 Billion Worth of Fake Malaria Drugs in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intercepted 277 cartons of counterfeit and unregistered
Malamal Forte malaria medication in a warehouse in the Ilasa-Oshodi area of Lagos State. The haul is valued at over ₦1.2 billion.

According to reports, the seized drugs were unlawfully brought into the country and declared under false pretenses.

Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of NAFDAC, affirmed that the Agency is acting in collaboration with the Presidency and the Federal Ministry of Health to clamp down on counterfeit and substandard medicines.

This operation is part of NAFDAC’s ongoing national effort to safeguard public health by ensuring that only safe, approved medicines circulate in Nigeria.
