Gunmen attack on Okene-Lokoja Road: one killed, three abducted in Kogi State
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed one person and abducted three passengers from an 18-seater bus along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State.

The attack occurred around 3 p.m. on Monday in Aku village, Adavi Local Government Area. Witnesses said the assailants ambushed a Toyota bus with registration number Benue DAP 325 LG, forcing the driver to stop abruptly.

A patrol team from the Kogi State Vigilante Service reportedly arrived during the attack and engaged the gunmen in a gun duel. Despite their intervention, one passenger was killed, and three others were taken into the bush by the attackers. However, the driver and three additional passengers were rescued.

An eyewitness, identified as Jamiu, confirmed the incident, saying the vigilantes’ timely arrival prevented further abductions.

Controller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Services, Ibrahim Omeiza Sani, said his men were pursuing the assailants to secure the release of the kidnapped victims.

Efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP William Aya, for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
