Gunmen Abduct Wife and Daughter of APC Chairman in Kwara State

Gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sakpefu, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attack occurred late on Sunday, September 7, 2025, when about five armed men reportedly scaled the fence of the chairman’s residence, firing sporadically to instill fear before breaking into the house.

According to party officials, the assailants gained access to one of the rooms, where they found Haja Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and his daughter, Amina, whom they whisked away at gunpoint.

A member of the APC State Executive Council, who requested anonymity, confirmed the incident to on Monday morning.

“It’s true that our Chairman’s wife and daughter in Patigi were kidnapped last night. I spoke with him this morning, and he said he was lucky not to have been taken as well. The gunmen jumped over his fence, shooting into the air, and then abducted his wife and daughter,” the source said.

The gunmen, who reportedly operated for several minutes, fled the compound with the victims to an undisclosed location.

Another party member confirmed the abduction, stressing that the kidnappers had yet to make contact with the family.

As of the time of reporting, police authorities in Kwara State have not issued an official statement on the incident.
