Driver Found Dead Inside Vehicle Near Police Checkpoint in Abaji

A driver, identified as Mr. Isaac Ugwu Anayo, was discovered dead inside his vehicle near a police checkpoint in Abaji, along the Abuja–Lokoja highway.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased, who was alone in a Volkswagen Pickup van with registration number ARP 192XA, had parked by the roadside close to the checkpoint. Policemen later approached the vehicle and found him unresponsive, with foam coming out of his mouth.

The officers immediately notified officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.

An FRSC official, who spoke anonymously, confirmed the incident, noting that doctors at the hospital pronounced Mr. Anayo dead on arrival. He added that the body has been deposited at the Abaji General Hospital morgue and that the deceased’s family was contacted through a mobile phone recovered from the vehicle.

A police source at the Abaji Division also confirmed the incident.
