Five Suspected Kidnappers Arrested as Police, Vigilantes Rescue Two Women in Kwara

Police in Kwara arrest suspected kidnappers and rescue victims in Oke-Ero
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued two abducted women in Idofin Igbana, Oke-Ero Local Government Area, following a joint operation with local security groups.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 30, around 7:45 p.m., when three women – Ahmed Aminat, Mohammed Habibat, and Isah Aminat – were kidnapped at Oke-Ile community in Idofin Igbana.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the police, working in collaboration with the Local Government Security Initiative, launched a search operation in nearby bushes after receiving reports of the abduction.

“During the operation at Ago Alu Fulani camp along the Idofin/Olla road, two of the victims were rescued after the kidnappers abandoned them on sighting the security team. However, the assailants managed to escape with one victim, Ahmed Aminat,” a source said.

The suspects – identified as Abubakar Seriki Juli, Mohammadu Bello, Abubakar Sodiq (20), Abubakar Bako, and another Mohammadu Bello – all residents of Idofin Aiyekale, were arrested at the camp.

One of the rescued victims confirmed that two of the arrested suspects were among those who abducted them.

Police authorities say efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim and track down other fleeing members of the gang.
