FG Assures Nigerians of One-Week Passport Delivery After Application

Nigerian Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, assures citizens of one-week passport delivery after application.
Nigerians applying for international passports can now expect faster processing as the Federal Government has pledged that passports will be delivered within one week of application.

This assurance was given by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as part of the government’s reforms to ease access to travel documents and eliminate delays in passport issuance.

According to the minister, the initiative is aimed at improving efficiency in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and ensuring that citizens no longer face unnecessary hurdles in obtaining their passports.

“Nigerians deserve a passport system that works seamlessly. With this reform, applicants will receive their passports within seven days of completing the application process,” Tunji-Ojo said.

The development comes amid recent complaints about long waiting periods and bottlenecks in passport processing across the country.

The Minister further noted that the government is committed to leveraging technology and improved service delivery to meet the growing demand for passports.

This move is expected to boost confidence in the passport issuance system, ease travel plans for citizens, and reduce the frustration previously associated with delays.
