EFCC to Inspect Estates Nationwide Over Alleged Looted Funds – Chairman Olukoyede

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede speaking on nationwide estate inspections
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, says the commission has set up a special team to begin nationwide visits to estates across Nigeria.

Olukoyede disclosed this during a media briefing, stating that preliminary findings indicate that many estates in the country were allegedly funded by corrupt civil servants using stolen public funds.

“I have set up a team. We’ll start visiting all the estates across Nigeria. What we’ve been able to gather is that most of these estates were funded by civil servants who have stolen money,” he said.

The EFCC chairman did not give a specific start date for the operation but emphasised that the move is part of the commission’s renewed efforts to trace and recover proceeds of corruption.
