Gunmen Abduct Seven Farmers in Ondo, Demand ₦100 Million Ransom—Soltrenx News

Amotekun officers and police launch forest search after seven farmers kidnapped in Ondo State 
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has confirmed the abduction of seven farmers in Itaogbolu, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Amotekun Corps, disclosed the incident during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday. According to him, the kidnapping occurred on Saturday while the farmers were working on their farmland.

“I can confirm the incident. Our men have been deployed into the forests and are still on the trail of the kidnappers. I was there yesterday (Sunday), and we remain hopeful that the victims will be rescued soon,” Adeleye stated.

The Ondo State Police Command also confirmed the development. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said the command has launched an intensive operation to rescue the abducted individuals.

“Yes, there was a reported case of kidnapping over the weekend in Itaogbolu. The police have begun a coordinated operation to track down the abductors and secure the safe release of the victims,” Odunlami-Omisanya said. “I cannot confirm the exact number of victims at this time due to the ongoing investigation and operations.”

A source familiar with the incident revealed that the abductors have made contact with the victims' families, demanding a ransom of ₦100 million for their release.

The victims were reportedly harvesting palm fruits on the farm when the gunmen struck, seizing them and taking them into the forest.

As of the time of this report, security agencies continue to comb the surrounding forests in search of the abductees, while the community remains on edge, hoping for a swift resolution.
