Six Nigerian Law School Students Abducted by Gunmen in Benue While Heading to Yola Campus

Security forces respond after Nigerian Law School students were kidnapped in Benue State
At least six students of the Nigerian Law School have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be armed bandits while traveling to resume academic activities at the institution’s Yola Campus in Adamawa State.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, July 26, 2025, along the Wukari–Benue highway, a notorious corridor for kidnappings and banditry near the border of Benue and Taraba states.

The students were returning from Onitsha, Anambra State, after completing their court externships. Their academic term at the Yola campus was set to resume on Monday, July 28.

Fellow students report the kidnappers have reached out to the victims' families, demanding a ransom of ₦20 million.

Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Yahaya Suleiman, acknowledged awareness of the kidnapping but clarified the incident happened outside their jurisdiction. He said authorities are working in coordination with Benue State officials to rescue the students.

The Benue State Police Command has reportedly yet to confirm full operational details of the incident.
