Labour Party Factional Chairman Julius Abure Holds Secret Talks with FCT Minister Wike
Julius Abure, factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has held a closed-door meeting with Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at Wike’s residence in Abuja.
While details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the meeting has stirred speculation, coming shortly after the Abure-led faction of the LP publicly called for Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, to leave the party over his involvement in a new coalition spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Wike, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who currently serves in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal cabinet, has himself been a polarising figure. Many PDP loyalists accuse him of fuelling internal rifts and undermining efforts to maintain a united opposition front.
Political observers are closely watching the implications of Abure’s meeting with Wike, given the shifting alliances and tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape.
