EFCC Uncovers 'Yahoo-Yahoo Hustle Kingdom' in Umuahia, Arrests 23 Suspected Internet Fraudsters

The Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered a cybercrime training centre in Umuahia, Abia State, leading to the arrest of 23 suspected internet fraudsters, including eight individuals reportedly undergoing training.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the anti-graft agency, the facility—dubbed “Yahoo-Yahoo Hustle Kingdom”—was located inside the Doofco Palace building, situated behind Government College, Umuahia.

The EFCC explained that the arrests were made following credible intelligence. Eight suspected trainees were apprehended at the cybercrime hub, while 15 other suspects were picked up in coordinated operations across Umudike, Ahiaeke, and Umugu, all in the Umuahia area.

The arrested trainees are: Toona Henry, Tavershima Solomon, Chi Orseer James, Ubee Benjamin, Gabriel Ibe Ifeanyi, Tindue Godwin, Muhammed Terwase Micheal, and Destiny Andrew.

Others are: Okezie Almond, Precious Osmond, Kenneth Prospect, Iweobi Chika Augustine, Nedolisa Victor, Kanu Austin, Anolu David, Collins Chinedu, Joshua Nnamdi, Ogechi Chibuzor, Michael Chinonso, Prince Chigozie, Festus Nwogu, Michael Lazarus, and Kingsley Ndubuisi

Recovered items from the suspects include two vehicles, 15 laptops, and 34 mobile phones.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to clamping down on cybercrime and warned that similar operations would continue across the region.
