Over 10 Killed in Aguamede, Enugu: Herdsmen Allegedly Deploy by Helicopter
On Sunday evening, more than 10 residents of Aguamede—a community in Eha‑Amufu, Isi‑Uzo LGA of Enugu State—were killed in a brutal strike allegedly carried out by armed bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen. Community sources report that the attackers descended into the area by a helicopter, which circled overhead earlier that day, and were subsequently deployed immediately before the killings.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the assailants stormed Aguamede around dusk, opening fire on unsuspecting residents and setting houses ablaze. The assault, which lasted for hours, left more than ten villagers dead, with several others sustaining injuries and many fleeing for safety.
Aguamede has repeatedly been subject to similar violent incursions.
