Video Emefiele Seen Leaving Courtroom Quickly After EFCC Hearing

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, was captured on video making a swift exit from the courtroom alongside his legal team following the conclusion of his latest hearing at the Federal High Court.

Emefiele, who is currently standing trial on a 19-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), appeared visibly tense as he departed the courtroom. The charges include allegations of bribery and corrupt practices amounting to $4.5 billion and ₦2.8 billion. His co-defendant, Henry Omoile, is also being tried in connection with the same case.

Eyewitnesses at the court reported that Emefiele arrived earlier in the day through a discreet entry, avoiding public attention as much as possible. Clad in a dark suit, he made no public remarks and was flanked by his lawyers and security personnel.

Following the day’s proceedings, which were held behind closed doors, Emefiele wasted no time in leaving the courtroom, accompanied closely by his lead counsel and other members of his legal team. The hurried departure was caught on video and shared by The Punch, further fueling public interest in the high-profile case.

Emefiele’s trial continues to generate nationwide attention due to the magnitude of the allegations and his former role as the head of Nigeria’s apex bank. The EFCC has vowed to pursue the case diligently, while Emefiele maintains his innocence.

The court is expected to reconvene on a later date for further hearings.
