President Tinubu Approves N787.14 Billion and $651.7 Million for Road Projects Across 13 Nigerian States

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the allocation of ₦787.14 billion and $651.7 million for the execution of critical road infrastructure projects across 13 states in Nigeria. The announcement was made following a recent meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), where the proposals were presented and ratified.

The substantial investment is aimed at addressing longstanding challenges in Nigeria’s road network, enhancing connectivity, facilitating commerce, and improving travel safety for citizens and businesses alike. The dual-currency allocation includes funding in both Nigerian Naira and U.S. Dollars, indicating a mix of local and foreign contractors or funding sources.

According to government sources, the road projects will cover major highways, inter-state corridors, and key infrastructure routes crucial to national development. Although the specific states and road sections involved were not immediately disclosed, the Ministry of Works and Housing confirmed that the selection was based on strategic economic importance and current traffic volumes.

Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic growth.

“These projects will not only ease transportation burdens but also create employment opportunities, stimulate local economies, and improve the overall quality of life for Nigerians,” Umahi said.

The approved funds are expected to be disbursed over a phased timeline, with strict monitoring mechanisms to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely delivery.

More details, including project timelines, contractors involved, and specific routes, are expected to be made public by the Ministry in the coming weeks.
