Obi Levi Obieze, Suspected Ritualist Captured by Nigeria Immigration While Fleeing to Seme
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, has transferred custody of a notorious crime suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation. Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, is alleged to be involved in the abduction and ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Enugu State.
According to reports, Obieze, a native of Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, and a known native doctor, was implicated in the kidnapping of the young girl on May 27, 2025. The victim was reportedly abducted by a group of three men while walking with her father to their farm. She was later rescued by police from a shrine allegedly linked to Obieze.
Acting on credible intelligence, vigilant officers of the NIS Lagos State Border Patrol Command apprehended Obieze at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road as he attempted to flee the country on a motorcycle. His identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip found in his possession. During initial questioning, Obieze reportedly admitted to the alleged crimes.
The Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, confirmed the arrest and subsequent handover, emphasizing the agency's commitment to border security and collaboration with other law enforcement bodies. The Lagos State Police Command has initiated further investigations into the case.
This incident underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating crime and ensuring justice for victims. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
