NEXTGEN RESCO: REA’s Bold 12-Month Blueprint to Deliver 130 Energy Jobs to Nigerian Graduates

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA), in collaboration with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and the Ecological Innovation Empowerment Initiative (EIEI), has launched the NEXTGEN RESCO Programme—a transformative initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerian graduates with the skills and experience needed to thrive in the renewable energy sector.

The NEXTGEN RESCO Programme is a 12-month intensive training and internship initiative designed to bridge the skills gap in Nigeria's renewable energy industry. It offers 60 outstanding young Nigerians comprehensive training in renewable energy systems, leadership development, and practical exposure through internships with leading private-sector companies. Upon successful completion, participants are expected to transition into active roles within the private sector, leveraging the skills acquired during the programme to drive innovation and growth in the clean energy industry.

The programme seeks to promote inclusivity and equal opportunity. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a university degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
  • Possess no more than two years of post-graduate experience.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Female applicants are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Current National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Abuja are also eligible

The NEXTGEN RESCO Programme aligns with the Federal Government's commitment to sustainable development and youth empowerment. By fostering a new generation of skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector, the initiative supports the objectives of the 2023 Electricity Act, which aims to optimize Nigeria's renewable energy projects and encourage multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Through partnerships with Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs), the programme not only enhances technical and leadership capacities but also promotes improved governance and service delivery within the private sector. This collaborative approach is expected to attract investment, drive innovation, and contribute significantly to Nigeria's clean energy goals.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the official NEXTGEN RESCO Programme website. The selection process will identify 60 exceptional individuals who will embark on this journey to become future leaders in Nigeria's renewable energy landscape.
