APC Governors Endorse President Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election

 

Governors elected under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have formally declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party's sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The unanimous endorsement was made on Thursday during the APC National Summit held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

The declaration marks a significant show of unity within the ruling party and sets the stage for what many anticipate will be a strong reelection bid by the President. Speaking on behalf of the APC Governors’ Forum, its chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, praised President Tinubu’s leadership, citing major strides in economic reform, infrastructure development, and national security since he assumed office in 2023.

“This endorsement is not just about politics,” Governor Uzodimma said. “It is about continuity, stability, and a shared vision for the future of our great nation. Under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria has witnessed critical reforms that are laying the groundwork for sustainable development.”

Party officials, ministers, lawmakers, and stakeholders present at the summit echoed the governors’ sentiments, applauding the President's efforts to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda. The endorsement was met with a standing ovation and chants of support from delegates representing all six geopolitical zones of the country.

Responding to the endorsement, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the governors and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the nation’s progress. “This endorsement is both humbling and energizing,” he said. “We still have much work to do. Together, we will ensure Nigeria’s prosperity and global relevance.”

The endorsement effectively positions Tinubu as the frontrunner for the APC ticket in 2027, potentially heading off any internal contest and giving the party ample time to consolidate its strategy ahead of the election.

With this public display of support, political analysts say the APC is signaling early readiness and cohesion, even as opposition parties continue to strategize for the next general election.
