NMDPRA Warns Operators Over Poor Waste Management

The Authority emphasized that improper handling and disposal of industrial waste pose serious environmental and public health risks. It urged all operators in the midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors to strictly adhere to environmental guidelines and implement proper waste management systems.
According to the NMDPRA, non-compliance with established environmental standards could attract sanctions, including fines, suspension of operations, or revocation of licenses. The agency reiterated its commitment to enforcing sustainable practices and protecting the environment in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.
The warning follows increased scrutiny of operational practices across the sector, as regulators seek to minimize the ecological footprint of petroleum-related activities in Nigeria.
