Kano State Government Approves N51.5 Billion for Infrastructure Enhancement

The Kano State Government has approved the sum of N51.5 billion for comprehensive infrastructure enhancement across the state. The announcement was made following the weekly State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Kano, and presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The allocated funds will be directed towards critical infrastructure projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. According to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye, the approval is part of the administration’s commitment to addressing pressing infrastructural deficits and improving the quality of life for the people of Kano State.

“This is a bold step by His Excellency to ensure Kano becomes a model state in terms of infrastructure and public services,” Dantiye said during a press briefing. “The projects are spread across the 44 local government areas to ensure even development and inclusion.”

Among the major projects slated for execution are the dualization of key intra-city roads in Kano metropolis, the renovation of dilapidated public schools, and the upgrading of general hospitals in Bichi, Wudil, and Gaya. The government also announced plans to complete several abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the projects will be implemented transparently and in collaboration with reputable contractors. He assured residents that all projects would adhere to international standards and be completed within stipulated timelines.

The announcement has been met with optimism by many residents and stakeholders, who believe the move will stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance mobility and access to essential services throughout the state.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the projects closely to ensure quality delivery and value for money.
